State-title-winning Hail Mary's, behind-the-back interceptions, behind-the-neck catches and some remarkable runs are all part of the best of 2021.
With more than 16,000 high school football teams playing an average amount of 10 games per year multiplied by approximately 45 — the average number of plays in a game — the number of plays from scrimmage each season is more than 7,000,000.
Of those, here are 10 of the very best from the 2021 season selected by MaxPreps.
There's a little bit of everything on both sides of the ball: Hail Mary's to decide state championships; A once-in-a-generation scoop-and-score which more resembled an interception (of pitch) and score; And then just some amazingly athletic, elusive and determined touchdown runs, the last of which was determination times six by Oklahoma-pound athlete
Jaren Kanak of
Hays (Kan.).
MaxPreps host, executive content editor Steve Montoya brings them all to you in this priceless five minute, 8 second video.
