Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley barely beat North Canyon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans blew past the Rattlers 13-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Calan Platt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joey Jankowski was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Paradise Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Connor Mitchell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Paradise Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Paradise Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Paradise Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against North Canyon: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
