Baseball Recap: Lake Cormorant Wins Going Away Against Heritage Academy

Lake Cormorant waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Heritage Academy Patriots by a score of 12-7. That five run margin sets a new team best for Lake Cormorant this season.

Brayden Moberly spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Michael Callahan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Derrin Randle also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Lake Cormorant now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Heritage Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Lake Cormorant will challenge Tishomingo County at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage Academy, they will square off against Lawrence County at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Academy has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
