Baseball Recap: St. Marys Comes Up Short

St. Marys fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Calhoun on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 9-8. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Desmond Parks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base. Another player making a difference was Casey Burkhammer, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

St. Marys' loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Calhoun, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Marys will face off against Wirt County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Calhoun, they will take on Webster County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
