Baseball Recap: Hermon Takes a Loss

Hermon suffered their closest defeat since May 22, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Caribou Vikings by a score of 3-1. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ethan Curtis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Sam Hopkins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tommy Meserve, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hermon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Caribou, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

While Hermon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
