Preview: Oklahoma School for the Deaf Bison vs. Milburn Eagles
Oklahoma School for the Deaf has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Milburn Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milburn took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oklahoma School for the Deaf, who comes in off a win.
Oklahoma School for the Deaf has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season. They breezed by Tennessee School for the Deaf at home to the tune of 69-24. With Oklahoma School for the Deaf ahead 42-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Landen Fewel and RyJan Reininger were among the main playmakers for Oklahoma School for the Deaf as the former dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 10 assists, and 11 steals and the latter scored 26 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. The matchup was Reininger's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Russell Fewel, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Milburn, who are still winless after their seventh game. They had to suffer through a rough 66-14 loss at the hands of Bennington. While losing is never fun, Milburn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Bennington is ranked 14th).
Oklahoma School for the Deaf's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Milburn, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Oklahoma School for the Deaf strolled past Milburn in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 62-45. Will Oklahoma School for the Deaf repeat their success, or does Milburn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
