Softball Recap: Garrett Railroaders vs. Eastside Blazers
After losing to Eastside the last time they met, Garrett decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Railroaders had just enough and edged out the Blazers 6-5 on Thursday. The game was the first time the Railroaders have beaten the Blazers on their field since April 24, 2018.
Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cameron Edwards was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Sarah DePew was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Garrett and bumps their season record up to 11-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 4-10 Lakeland and 8-10 Eastside. Garrett will take on Huntington North in a tournament on Saturday.
