The Herscher Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Morris Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Herscher sitting on three straight wins and Morris on five.
On Tuesday, Herscher was able to grind out a solid victory over Reed-Custer, taking the game 9-4.
Keira Ahramovich and Liv Wilkins did most of the damage at the plate: Ahramovich fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3, while Wilkins fired off two home runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs Ahramovich has posted since back in March. Chloe Kinkade was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Herscher lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Morris got themselves on the board against Serena on Thursday, but Serena never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Huskers with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Morris let Cami Pfeifer and Halie Olson run wild. Pfeifer went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Olson went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Olson has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tessa Shannon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Herscher's record now sits at 12-5. As for Morris, their record is now 14-4.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Herscher has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Morris struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Herscher couldn't quite finish off Morris in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
