Hoopeston piles up the points against Illinois Lutheran

Recap: Hoopeston Cornjerkers vs. Illinois Lutheran Chargers

The Hoopeston Cornjerkers entered their tilt with the Illinois Lutheran Chargers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Hoopeston breezed by Illinois Lutheran on the road to the tune of 50-15. That 50-15 margin sets a new team best for Hoopeston this season.

Leading Hoopeston to victory were Wyatt Eisenman and Owen Root. Eisenman scored nine points along with ten rebounds and four steals, while Root dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Root's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mason Rush, who scored two points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristan Biesterfeld, who scored five points. Biesterfeld set a new season high mark in steals with two.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Illinois Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Hoopeston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Illinois Lutheran, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Watseka the next time they take the court. Illinois Lutheran will head out to face Watseka at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, while Hoopeston will head out to face them at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
