Softball Recap: Sandalwood Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Sandalwood came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Harvest Community Warriors. Considering the Saints have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sandalwood got a big performance out of Leelee Gwinn, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Gwinn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Seprish, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sandalwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Sandalwood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Harvest Community, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-5.

Sandalwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harvest Community, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parsons Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
