The La Junta Tigers will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Eaton Reds at 1:00 p.m. La Junta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Eaton likes a good challenge.
It was a proper cat-fight when La Junta took on Woodland Park on Friday. The Tigers took their matchup with ease, bagging a 58-6 victory over the Panthers. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-0.
One reason for the win was La Junta's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Jordan Gamez was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Eaton posted their closest win since September 27, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Berthoud 13-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Reds.
La Junta better keep an eye on Jackson Savona. He was instrumental in Eaton's win, rushing for 268 yards and one TD while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Those 268 rushing yards gave Savona a new career-high.
Eaton's run defense was locked in: Berthoud could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Ben Lawhead for the heroic effort on defense: he. Eaton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.2.

La Junta's record now sits at 7-2. As for Eaton, their record is now 6-3.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. La Junta has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Eaton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 181.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for La Junta against Eaton in their previous meeting back in November of 2017, as the squad secured a 42-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Reds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
