Softball Game Preview: Albany Academy for Girls Bears vs. Lansingburgh Knights

The Albany Academy for Girls Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Lansingburgh Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Albany Academy for Girls' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Voorheesville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Lansingburgh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Voorheesville 6-5. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Guiliana Patregnani made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over ten innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She also put up seven walks, which were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kyleigh Wilmott was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taylor Moran, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Lansingburgh and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Albany Academy for Girls, their record is now 2-0.

Everything went Albany Academy for Girls' way against Lansingburgh in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Albany Academy for Girls made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
