Baseball Game Preview: West Perry Mustangs vs. Bermudian Springs Eagles

The West Perry Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Bermudian Springs Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, West Perry turned things around against Biglerville on Monday. They came out on top against the Canners by a score of 5-2.

Meanwhile, Bermudian Springs came tearing into two weeks ago's game with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Skyler Gentzler tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lane Hubbard was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nate Keller, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Bermudian Springs' victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for West Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

West Perry was able to grind out a solid win over Bermudian Springs in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
