Basketball Preview: Midway Panthers vs. Weiss Wolves
The Midway Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Weiss Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midway will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Even though Bryan scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Midway still came out on top. Midway sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 win over the Vikings.
Meanwhile, Weiss had to suffer through a rough 81-43 loss at the hands of the Vikings. While losing is never fun, Weiss can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1044th, while the Vikings are ranked 87th).
Despite the defeat, Weiss got a solid performance out of Serese Williams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games.
Midway is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. As for Weiss, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-24.
Everything came up roses for Midway against the Wolves in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 69-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midway since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
