Basketball Game Preview: Therrell Panthers vs. Carver Panthers

The Therrell Panthers will face off against the Carver Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Therrell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Last Friday, Therrell got the win against Washington by a conclusive 77-56.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Therrell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Torey Baisden, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points. The match was Baisden's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Antwon Young, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Carver played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Holy Innocents Episcopal and fell 89-43. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-22.

Therrell will need focus on slowing down Jacory Pickett, one of several Carver players who made an impact when they last played. He posted seven points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekiel Ferguson, who put up six points.

Carver has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season. As for Therrell, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Therrell has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Carver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything went Therrell's way against Carver when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Therrell made off with a 79-58 win. Does Therrell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carver turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
