Basketball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Comes Up Short

Jefferson Davis Academy lost against Calhoun Academy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Jefferson Davis Academy still got an impressive performance from Nasir Void, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 52.1% of Jefferson Davis Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Payton Payne was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Jefferson Davis Academy's record now sits at 5-3. As for Calhoun Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Jefferson Davis Academy and Florence Christian will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Calhoun Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Patrick Henry Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
