Football Recap: Jackson Christian Starts Season with Win on the Road

Jackson Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 24-14 win over the Union City Golden Tornadoes on Friday.

Jackson Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Smith, who threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Duece Lawrence, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Lawrence, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Jackson Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hudson Little and Lucas Witherspoon.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson Christian will take on Donelson Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union City, they will square off against Dyer County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
