Softball Recap: Strasburg-Franklin Find Success

Strasburg-Franklin's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sheridan Generals, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 20, 2024.

Miley Reifenschneider made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Sofia Secrest was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Rylee Becker, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Strasburg-Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.8.

Strasburg-Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Sheridan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Strasburg-Franklin will head out to square off against Louisville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sheridan, they will square off against Circleville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
