Softball Recap: Maury's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Maury dropped their record down to 6-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Churchland Truckers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Truckers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in March.

As for Churchland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

For Churchland's part, Autumn Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Churchland's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rori Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Thompson has posted since back in May of 2024. Mahogany Trotter was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Coincidentally, Maury and Churchland will both be playing Manor the next time they take the field. The Truckers will head out to face the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Commodores will host them at 4:30 p.m. on May 9.
