Baseball Game Preview: Shelby County Rockets vs. Henry Clay Blue Devils

The Shelby County Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Henry Clay Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Shelby County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against North Bullitt on Saturday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for the Rockets in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Jack Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Shelby County is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-17 otherwise.

At the plate, Shelby County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Bolin, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Henry Clay scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 17-14 to Eastern. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Henry Clay's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Shelby County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-18.

Everything went Shelby County's way against Henry Clay in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Shelby County made off with a 7-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
