South Bend Riley is 1-7 against South Bend Adams since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. South Bend Riley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
South Bend Riley proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 15) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over La Porte. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Slicers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
KAELYNN HOWELL spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on CHLOE WHITMER, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. RACHEL HUNT was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. South Bend Adams put the hurt on Elkhart Christian Academy with a sharp 12-0 win. South Bend Adams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Abby Kadar and Angela McNellis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kadar pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, McNellis tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Kadar went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while McNellis went 3-for-4 with three runs.
In other batting news, Julia McNellis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Paige Masiku also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
South Bend Adams was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory snapped South Bend Adams' losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-8 record. As for South Bend Riley, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
South Bend Riley's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Bend Adams, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Bend Riley continue to outrun the ball?
South Bend Riley beat South Bend Adams 6-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
