Baseball Game Preview: Santa Teresa Desert Warriors vs. Alamogordo Tigers

The Santa Teresa Desert Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Alamogordo Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Teresa is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Santa Teresa is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Alamogordo, who was ranked seventh at the time (Santa Teresa was ranked 20th). Santa Teresa sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Alamogordo on Friday. The two-run effort marked the Desert Warriors' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

For Alamogordo's part, Kelan Wall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. Wall has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Alamogordo's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Santa Teresa, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. However, it's not like Alamogordo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts.
