Baseball Recap: Poynette Takes a Loss

Poynette extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-11 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Lake Mills L-Cats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the L-Cats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Tuesday.

Poynette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Webster, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Lake Mills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Considering they have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Lake Mills' side, the team relied heavily on Ty Schaefer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Max Stelter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poynette will take on Fall River at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.38 runs per game on average), something the Pumas will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lake Mills, they will challenge Fort Atkinson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
