Softball Game Preview: Salem Sundevils vs. Bayside Marlins

The Salem Sundevils will take on the Bayside Marlins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Salem's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Bayside has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Salem blew Tallwood out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Tallwood got their revenge. The Sundevils fell just short of the Lions by a score of 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Sundevils have lost by exactly two runs.

Sophia O'Connor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Ocean Lakes hit Bayside with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Marlins lost 7-1 to the Dolphins.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Bayside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Salem couldn't quite finish off Bayside when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Sundevils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
