Football Recap: Milpitas Piles Up the Points Against Saint Francis

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Menlo School, Milpitas was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Saint Francis Lancers 39-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their six-point performance the game before.

A big part of Milpitas' victory came down to the chemistry between Bren David and her top target Elly Miller Rodriquez. David threw for 181 yards and five touchdowns while Miller Rodriquez picked up 89 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

One reason for the win was Milpitas' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 14 sacks. Sakura Shimizu led the group effort, picking up five of those sacks all by herself. Madeline Garrison has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last three times she's played.

Milpitas pushed their record up to 1-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points over those games. As for Saint Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
