Volleyball Recap: Deer Trail Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Saturday. Deer Trail came up short against Evangel Christian Academy, falling 3-0. Deer Trail hasn't had much luck with Evangel Christian Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-9, 25-10.

Megan Donovan paced Deer Trail's offense, picking up six kills. Donovan got some help from Vailini Samate and her five assists. Landree Cox controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Evangel Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Bailey Roberts, who had eight digs and six aces.

Deer Trail's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. After both having extra time off, Deer Trail and Briggsdale will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will take on Fountain Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
