Baseball Recap: Thornton Takes a Loss

Thornton lost against Thornwood last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats lost 18-1 to the Thunderbirds. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thornton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marshawn Rucker, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Rucker is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-3-1 when he doesn't).

Thornton now has a losing record of 3-4-1. As for Thornwood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Thornton will be playing at home against Gary West Side at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Thornwood, they will take on Evergreen Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunderbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
