Basketball Game Preview: Taylor County Bulldogs vs. Madison County Cowboys

Taylor County hasn't had much luck against Madison County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Taylor County Bulldogs just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Madison County Cowboys at 6:00 p.m.

Taylor County is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 69-12 loss at the hands of Godby. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the Cougars are ranked 178th).

Meanwhile, Madison County was able to grind out a solid win over Leon on Monday, taking the game 57-46.

Madison County's win came from a few key players Taylor County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaidyn Wesley, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave her a new career-high. Ja?Niyah Livingston was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Madison County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Taylor County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Taylor County was dealt a bruising 79-8 loss at the hands of Madison County when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Taylor County, Janiyah Mcknight (who went 12 of 23 on her way to 28 points along with seven steals and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time.
