Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Cornerstone Charter came into Friday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They escaped with a win on Friday against the Phoenix Academy Firebirds by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Cardinals were the better team in the second half.

Kaylen Williamson was a one-woman wrecking crew for Cornerstone Charter as she dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maloree Walthaw, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points.

Cornerstone Charter's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. As for Phoenix Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing College Prep & Leadership Academy the next time they take the court. Cornerstone Charter will head out to face College Prep & Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Phoenix Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
