Del Mar was sadly handed a defeat on Tuesday, but Ryan Avery did his best to prevent it. Avery was unstoppable, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Even though Avery couldn't lead Del Mar over Yerba Buena, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dons are 9-1 against the Warriors going back to April of 2018, a lead they'll look to extend.
