Volleyball Recap: North Putnam Takes a Loss

If North Putnam was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Southmont on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell 3-1 to the Owen Valley Patriots on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While North Putnam ultimately came up short, they really made Owen Valley work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 27-25, 19-25, 25-20.

Tori Detro paced North Putnam's offense, picking up eight kills. Detro got some help from Jolie Rust and her nine assists. Detro was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

North Putnam now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Owen Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Putnam will host Covington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owen Valley, they will take on Brown County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Patriots' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
