Softball Game Preview: Hampton Bulldogs vs. Rison Wildcats

Hampton is 1-7 against Rison since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Hampton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Rison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Hampton didn't have quite enough to beat El Dorado and fell 4-3.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Rison nor DeWitt made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Wildcats fell 4-0 to the Dragons. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost three in a row.

Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Rison, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Hampton skirted past Rison 9-8 in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
