Softball Recap: Riverside Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Neshannock, Riverside was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Freedom Area Bulldogs a 20-0 shutout. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 8.4 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Jasmine Ewing, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That hit was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Cummings, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom Area only posted an OBP of .182.

Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Freedom Area, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Riverside will take on rival Shenango at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Freedom Area is set to square off against their familiar foe New Brighton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
