Football Recap: Southridge Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Southridge can now relate to. They took a blow against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders on Monday, falling 27-0.

Sherice Newton had another great game (as she tends to do), throwing for 274 yards and three TDs while completing 74.2% of her passes, and also punching in one score on the ground for St. Thomas Aquinas. That's the most passing yards Newton has posted since back in March.

Southridge's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1.

Southridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they will challenge Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos' defense has only allowed 4.5 points per game this season, so the Raiders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
