Basketball Recap: Hailey Houlder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whitefield Academy over Westlake

On Saturday, 2025 welcomed the Whitefield Academy WolfPack with an 89-67 loss courtesy of the Westlake Lions. The WolfPack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several WolfPack players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hailey Houlder, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 21 points along with seven assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Houlder is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Newman, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 27 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Whitefield Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive matches.

Whitefield Academy's record is now 10-6. As for Westlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Whitefield Academy and Westlake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Whitefield Academy (ranked 136th) will meet Mt. Bethel Christian Academy (ranked 357th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th. Whitefield Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Westlake (ranked 116th) will meet Chapel Hill (ranked 255th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
