Football Recap: South River Takes a Loss

South River managed to slip by Brearley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rams were beaten by the Bears 49-12 on Friday. The loss leaves the Rams still looking for their first win of the season.

Despite the loss, South River still got an impressive performance from Kahmori Cotto, who rushed for 143 yards and two TDs. Orion Familia also deserves some recognition as he rushed for his first rushing yards of the season.

South River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nazhir Marshall and Dominic Harris.

South River's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Brearley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.

Coming up, South River will venture away from home to take on South Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Rams' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Brearley, they will host Metuchen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
