Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Glenwood

Glenwood won against Pleasant Plains on Monday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Titans came out on top against the Rochester Rockets by a score of 5-1. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Cameron Appenzeller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3.

Appenzeller wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Murphy, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Murphy has hit this season.

Glenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Glenwood pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Rochester, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-10-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenwood will venture away from home to challenge Springfield Southeast at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rochester, they will head out to take on Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
