Softball Recap: Westerville South Drops Season-High Score on Bexley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westerville South). Everything went their way against the Bexley Lions on Monday as they made off with a 21-10 win. The Wildcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 14-1).

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Paul, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Nagle, who went a perfect 6-for-6 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Westerville South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Westerville South and bumps their season record up to 4-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Bexley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Looking ahead, Westerville South will host Buckeye Valley at 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for the Wildcats: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while the Barons have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. As for Bexley, they will venture away from home to challenge Whetstone at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season.
