Softball Recap: Skyline Wins Going Away Against Mesa

Skyline won against Dobson last Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Coyotes blew past the Mesa Jackrabbits 18-7. With that win, the Coyotes brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Kaleigha Clytus made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Clytus was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Deena Lopez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Dasti, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.

Skyline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Skyline and bumps their season record up to 6-19. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 4-18 Dobson and 4-11 Mesa. As for Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Coming up, Skyline will face off against Dobson at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Coyotes are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Mesa, they have already played their next game, a 31-16 defeat against Westwood on the 23rd.
