Baseball Game Preview: Denver City Mustangs vs. Roswell Coyotes

The Denver City Mustangs will square off against the Roswell Coyotes at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Denver City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Denver City is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Brownfield just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cubs by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Samrey Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Denver City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Ornelas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Roswell came up short against Centennial on Wednesday and fell 8-5. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Davian Dominguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Abey Tescano was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Denver City's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-4. As for Roswell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
