Baseball Recap: Archbishop Hannan Has No Trouble Against Northlake Christian

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Archbishop Hannan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Northlake Christian Wolverines as the Archbishop Hannan Hawks made off with a 9-3 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Nate Tardo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Tardo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI. He also hit two hits, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Archbishop Hannan let Patrick Kennedy and Owen Stempel run wild. Kennedy scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Stempel scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Stempel a new career-high in stolen bases. Jay Lachney also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Archbishop Hannan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Archbishop Hannan back to even at 4-4. As for Northlake Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1-1.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Hannan will venture away from home to challenge St. Amant at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northlake Christian, they have already played their next matchup, a 4-1 loss against Covington on the 20th.
