Basketball Recap: Walter Johnson Comes Up Short

Walter Johnson is still winless after their match against Gaithersburg on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gaithersburg Trojans. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Walter Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Gaithersburg, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Walter Johnson will be home for the holidays to greet Clarksburg at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Clarksburg has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three games. Gaithersburg and Kennedy will compete for holiday cheer on Wednesday. Gaithersburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Kennedy likes a good challenge.
