Baseball Game Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. Alvin Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Manvel will face off against Alvin. The Mavericks will host the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Manvel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Manvel is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Alvin just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets.

Dylan Lam was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Manvel saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Thompson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The win (which was Alvin's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Manvel, they now also have a losing record of 8-9.
