It was a good run, but Morgantown Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union Grove Christian Patriots. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in West Virginia, while the Patriots are ranked 123rd in North Carolina).

Morgantown Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Lemley, who posted ten points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Mathess, who earned 14 points.

It was another big night for Colin Wykes, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 23 points for Union Grove Christian. Wykes' afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ben Johnson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Morgantown Christian Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Union Grove Christian, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 24-4.

Morgantown Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-42 defeat against Clay-Battelle on the 27th. Union Grove Christian has also already played their next contest, a 60-49 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 24th.
