Basketball Recap: East Coweta Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

East Coweta entered their tilt with Bishop Snyder on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They rang in the new year with a 59-50 win over the Bishop Snyder Cardinals. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 81st in Georgia, while the Cardinals are ranked 234th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Coweta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Barbra, who posted eight points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Barbra a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Qwes Williams, who earned eight points and ten rebounds.

East Coweta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

East Coweta pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Bishop Snyder, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Coweta will host Carrollton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Coweta is facing Carrollton at the right time seeing as Carrollton is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bishop Snyder, they will face off against Bolles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
