Softball Recap: Pioneer Mustangs vs. Piedmont Hills Pirates        
        
		
            
 After flying high against Silver Creek  last Thursday, Pioneer came back down to earth. The Pioneer Mustangs fell just short of the Piedmont Hills Pirates by a score of  3-1 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pioneer of the  5-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March.
 Pioneer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Olivia Krump, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-2.
 On Piedmont Hills' side,  Camila Delgado Yescas was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with two  RBI and a  double. Another player making a difference was  Ava Martinez, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Pioneer's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Piedmont Hills, the  win was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
 Pioneer will head out on the road to  face off against  Prospect at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Pioneer is facing Prospect at the right time seeing as Prospect is stuck on  an  eight-game losing streak. As for Piedmont Hills, they will have some time to savor their  victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Santa Clara at 4:00  p.m.  on April 9th. Santa Clara has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.82  runs per game on average), something Piedmont Hills will no doubt try to take advantage of.
