Baseball Recap: Splendora Takes a Loss

Splendora entered their contest against Dayton on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 6-4. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Broncos earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Splendora saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Sepanio, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Sepanio has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Colby Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 15-8. As for Dayton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Splendora and Dayton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats will face off against Porter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (304 vs. 149). Meanwhile, Dayton (ranked 491st) will meet Kingwood Park (ranked 122nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
