Basketball Recap: Galeton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Galeton had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 41-31 victory over the Smethport Hubbers on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Galeton was led to victory by Max Schloegel and MASYN MALACZEWSKI. Schloegel posted 12 points, while MALACZEWSKI earned 12 points along with five boards and three blocks. MALACZEWSKI is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braden WARD, who had five points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Galeton's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Smethport, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Galeton and Smethport could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Galeton (ranked 704th) will meet Otto-Eldred (ranked 99th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Smethport will square off against Cameron County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday down 510 places (717 vs. 207).
