Bangor and Brewer are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Rams will host the Witches at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Bangor took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Brunswick a 2-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Emma Tripp's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophie Lynch, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Brewer faced Hampden in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Witches had just enough and edged out the Broncos 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Witches as they're now sitting on four straight.
Sara Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over ten innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off 13 hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brewer let Audrey Loupin and Emma Jameson run wild. Loupin went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Jameson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one double. Those two runs gave Loupin a new career-high.
Bangor's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Brewer, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Bangor couldn't quite get it done against Brewer in their previous meeting on May 5th as they fell 8-4. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
