Highland Springs hasn't had much luck against Deep Run recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Springers will square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Highland Springs will be strutting in after a victory while Deep Run will be coming in after a loss.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Highland Springs and Armstrong, and Highland Springs kept the tradition alive. The Springers were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over the Wildcats on Friday. The Springers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

Elise Fleming made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Izabella Bowles and Samantha Gathright did most of the damage at the plate: Bowles got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Gathright got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those two stolen bases gave Bowles a new career-high. Jeimy Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Highland Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Deep Run was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Glen Allen, falling 7-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Wildcats' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Deep Run saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braelyn Baulsir, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
Highland Springs has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Deep Run, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Deep Run struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highland Springs might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from Deep Run in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Springers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
